What is Bamboo Sprouts?

Sponsored by the Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association (APAMSA) at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Bamboo Sprouts is a mentoring program run by Johns Hopkins University medical students.

Our goals are:

  1. To provide mentorship and Asian American role models for participants

  2. To engage participants in interactive, hands-on activities that promote awareness of and enthusiasm for Asian cultures

  3. To foster interest in healthy living and learning, and create opportunities for participants to engage in these activities

Medical students interact with participants through 7 two-hour monthly activity sessions from September through May, with each session focusing on a theme that incorporates elements of Asian culture. By doing so, we hope to help our participants gain an appreciation of their unique background by discussing their Eastern heritage in a Western environment.
